EARLY STATEHOOD TO MODERN DAY
"Group Catawba Indians Rock Hill, SC" 1913. South Carolina Encyclopedia. https://www.scencyclopedia.org/sce/entries/catawbas/
By the time South Carolina had become a state, the majority of native tribes in the area had been completely diminished; with remaining populations dispersed among the Creek, Cherokee, and Catawba. This period represents a major gap in the History of Native Americans in South Carolina, particularly for those who remained in the Lowcountry.
