New Member Mingles!

New members are cordially invited to join CLS staff and friends at our monthly Mingles.

Mingles are tentatively scheduled to take place on the second Monday evening of each given month, but fill up quickly!  Please visit our Programs page to sign up.

The Library observes the following holidays:  Martin Luther King Day, Easter (and the Friday before and Monday following), Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July (and one or two surrounding days), Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wednesday and Friday as well), Christmas and New Years (with days before and after).  Please call or check our website for the most up-to-date information on closures.

What is Encore?

Encore is your guide to the items and materials found within the Charleston Library Society collection. Encore offers basic and advanced search functionality with patron account access. Patrons can locate and place items on hold from within the system. Encore also includes listings of electronic resources available through the separate Overdrive collection.

Logging Into Overdrive

  • To begin with, OverDrive login credentials consist of the following: 
    • Username = Member ID Number
    • Password = LAST name, with the first letter capitalized
  • You may change the login credentials once you've logged in and established your account. 
  • Please contact us if you are experiencing issues with logging into your account.
